A stunningly illustrated allegory of angry and apology, where Alice in Wonderland meets Where the Wild Things Are

When Alma gets angry and yells at her mum, it makes her feel icky inside. So she marches off into a cupboard. There she discovers an old bell jar, and she’s transported to an incredible otherworld, with raging storms, dark waters and a host of magical creatures.

Once the storm has passed, Alma finally lets herself cry, and soon finds herself back home, in the soothing blanket of her mother’s hug.

 

Kati Närhi is an illustrator and writer based in Helsinki, Finland. Illustrated book is her passion, but she also creates illustrations for magazines, products, animations, and websites. Kati’s illustrations and books have been awarded, including Merit awards in 3x3 Illustration show (2020, 2021, 2022) and Purple Island Award in Nami Councours (South Korea 2023 and 2025). She was nominated as a candidate for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2025 and 2026.
